Origins of Japanese Curry

The origins of Japanese curry can be traced back to the late 19th century when it was first introduced to Japan by the British. At that time, it was mainly served in British-style restaurants in Japan and was not very popular among the locals. However, over time, the dish evolved and was adapted to suit Japanese tastes, and it became a staple in many households.

Our Japanese Curry Recipe

Puri Boga Restaurant’s Japanese Curry consists of a roux made from flour, butter, and curry powder, combined with vegetables and meat. We commonly use several vegetables, including potatoes, carrots, and onions. Meanwhile, we use meat with chicken.

Our food production intends to make Japanese curry by sautéing the vegetables in oil until they are soft. Then, add the meat and cook until browned. Next, add water or broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Finally, stir the curry roux until it is fully dissolved and thickened. Serve over rice, and enjoy!

Variations

While the basic recipe for Japanese curry is delicious, many variations can be made to suit different tastes. For example, some people like to add apples or honey to their curry to give it a sweeter taste. Meanwhile, others want to add hot sauce or chili flakes to make it spicier.

However, our variation of Japanese curry is “katsu curry,” made by topping the curry with a breaded and fried chicken cutlet. This adds a delicious crunch to the dish and is a favorite among many Japanese curry lovers.
